With 20 000 hectares (55 000 acres) of untainted African bush, the Chem Chem – Burunge Wildlife Management Area (WMA) protects an invaluable migration corridor between the ancient landscape of Tarangire National Park and the tranquil waters of Lake Manyara National Park. It is the perfect place to connect with the rolling wilderness around you and to immerse yourself in an authentic Tanzanian wilderness experience.
The concept of a Slow Safari was born at Chem Chem. Key to this is the ethos of a safari as a tangible, sensual experience beyond the confines of a vehicle, where guests can see, feel, touch and smell the African bush for themselves.

This sophisticated oasis has a calm energy that embodies the slow safari. An organic palette of colour and texture reflects the natural beauty beyond, and handcrafted furniture and artworks adorn the spacious main area and airy suites. It is equally a camp for celebrating the richness of Maasai culture, whether you choose to run with warriors or explore local village life.
Each of the 8 tented suites are situated at least 80 metres apart, ensuring total privacy with a stunning lake view. A communal pool is hidden beneath the trees to cool off from the midday sun, and the Chem Chem Spa offers the ultimate in relaxation.

OVERLOOKING LAKE BURUNGE
Little Chem Chem
The camp overlooks the freshwater Lake Burunge with the Babati mountain range as a magnificent backdrop on the south-west. The north-east faces the hills of Tarangire in the distance. Known as the sunrise camp, Little Chem Chem is home to early morning displays of glory.
Set on the earth, the 6 vintage tents have a large bedroom with rocking chair and study desk, a vanity area with a dressing room, and an en-suite bathroom with running hot water shower and flushing toilet.
The atmosphere at Little Chem Chem is welcoming, elegant and oozes safari authenticity. Lions roam around and call each other at night; stately elephants move between waterholes; cheetahs hunt on the plains; elusive leopards can be found; and eland and lesser kudu can be seen in the more dense woods. And wherever there is water, the bird life is abundant and colourful.

Forest Chem Chem
‘Kuungana’ means ‘to connect’ in Swahili, and this is the essence of Forest Chem Chem. The camp has been designed to bring people together over the warmth of the crackling campfire. It is a place for families and friends to connect with each other, with the bush, with Africa and with themselves.
Here, guests will discover even more opportunities to explore the game-rich areas bordering Tarangire National Park and Lake Burunge. Forest Chem Chem is only available on an exclusive use basis with 3 vintage tents and 1 family tent. The camp comfortably sleeps up to 8 adults and 2 children.
With exclusivity comes complete freedom! Forest Chem Chem is the opportunity to experience a bush camp of your own. Here, in the heart of Tanzania, are some of the most densely populated wildlife areas the country has to offer. This is due to the proximity to not one, but two national parks, and the resurrection of an ancient migratory corridor through this land as a result of the conservation work by the Chem Chem Association.

MWIBA WILDLIFE RESERVE
Mwiba Lodge
Mwiba Lodge, a secluded, sophisticated haven set among massive stone boulders, ancient coral trees and acacias, overlooking a rocky gorge, is the flagship safari experience in the Legendary Expeditions portfolio. Built in harmony with this spectacular natural backdrop, Mwiba Lodge offers an unmatched experience in luxury adventure. This exclusive lodge mixes both traditional and modern design elements, creating an inviting, sophisticated hideaway.
The interiors artfully integrate the natural surroundings and the ten double suites all give way to a wide-open layout. The bathrooms have large soaking tubs with private outside showers.
The main lounge and lower deck with an infinity-edge pool overlooks three springs where guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of a constant parade of wildlife.
Located in Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, a conservation concession dedicated to the balance between wildlife and communities, this area is only available to a handful of guests, facilitating an excellent, uncrowded safari experience within the greater Serengeti eco-system.

Mila Tented Camp
Mila Tented is now located in the western corridor of the Serengeti; an area teeming with impressive lion prides, impossibly rich sunsets, and endless grassy savannahs.
Boasting close proximity to the Grumeti River and phenomenal year-round wildlife encounters, Mila is ideal for those seeking a classic, tented safari experience.
With five tented rooms and a two-bedroom family tent, Mila Tented Camp draws inspiration from the Hadzabe, who are known for their honey. This is reflected in the natural linens, textiles, and colours that blend into the environment and welcome travellers to soak up the beautiful surroundings, both inside and out.
Guests staying at Mila Tented Camp are allocated a private vehicle and guide per booking and together with undertaking a safari adventure, have the ability to take to the sky in a scenic hot air balloon trip. There is also the option of fly camping for those who want a real sense of adventure and a night under the stars.

Mwiba Fly Camping
Found in the Greater Serengeti, guests staying in the private concession, Mwiba Wildlife Reserve at Mwiba Lodge, have the option to experience a night under the stars in a truly magnificent fly-camp. The team will set up camp in a perfect location where guests spend the night in total comfort, but without the modern conveniences, allowing one to explore the extraordinary sense of isolation and build a closer relationship with nature without distractions.
There are a maximin of 4 tents available (twin or double configuration) and shared bathroom facilities of a bucket shower with warm water and a long drop toilet. Your guide is with you at all times and a watchman/Askati gaurds for wildlife at night.
Fly-camping is the perfect getaway for those seeking a full immersion into the wilderness… As guests are led to an unspecified location, all that is certain, is that it will be the most memorable experience of their safari.

Legendary Lodge is one of a kind: it is a luxury property located on the outskirts of Arusha, set in a lush tropical garden surrounded by a working coffee farm. Enjoy inspiring views of Mount Meru from the privacy of your own garden cottage while their staff takes care of your every whim. Conveniently located, the lodge is a 10 minute drive from the Arusha Airport and 1 to 2 hours’ drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport.
The 10 one-bedroom cottages and 2 two-bedroom cottages each have private verandahs and stunning views of Mount Meru that make for the perfect place to relax before or after a safari.
Indulge in gourmet meals served at the old farmhouse. Meal times are flexible and guests are accommodated at their convenience.
